Aside from the time I spend traveling and at home with my family, I serve as CEO of Atlas Finance, a microlender I founded in 1994. Born and raised in what is now Harare, Zimbabwe, I came to South Africa in my late 20s with a lot of ambition and very little money. In time, I found my calling in microfinance and have since helped millions of people obtain the loans they need for life’s immediate expenses. I believe in building strong, sustainable communities and have given to a wide range of charities in Johannesburg and elsewhere, including Stop Hunger Now South Africa, Kraaipan Youth Foundation, the the Phuthaditjhaba Community Centre in Alexandra, Chabad House Johannesburg, Warm the World, and Woodrock Animal Rescue. A passionate photographer as well, I recently published my favorite images from the last 20 years in Faces and Places. To see more about the book, go to jackhalfon.com.
